Computers
The following is a list of computers and devices that I own, along with their specifications.
Aether
Aether is more properly the name of my wireless network than the name of a particular computer. It is administrated by an Apple Time Capsule, with a standard set of encryption. It also technically hides in the network created by my DSL modem (which also acts as a router).
Mneme
The name of the hard drive part of my Apple Time Capsule; its size is 500 GB.
Atalanta
My main computer, a desktop. I built her myself, and she is composed of the following:
- Antec Sonata III
- GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz
- G.SKILL 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (total of 8GB)
- Western Digital Caviar GP WD10EACS 1TB 5400 to 7200 RPM (total of 2TB)
- LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R SATA DVD Burner with LightScribe
- EVGA 512-P3-N867-AR GeForce 9600GT 512MB
- Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Artemis
My Vista laptop computer. It is a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4397; now that Toshiba no longer manufactures them, they have removed the webpage where they provide statistics, or else I would just link there.
Echo
My MacBook. More explicitly, it's a low-end 13.3-inch white MacBook purchased in 2Q08—whatever the specs to that end up being.
Euterpe
My iPhone 3G 16GB Black.
Calliope
My AppleTV.
Athena
My external USB hard drive.
Hermes
My external ethernet hard drive (Western Digital MyBook).
Achilles
My XBox 360. They don't actually get network names, so it's more in spirit and jest than in actual seriousness for building a network.
Helen
My Wii. Again, they don't normally get network names, but it's fun to still have a name for it.
Genji
Genji was a laptop I bought in college and served me faithfully for most of my time there, until my tinkering broke it pretty severely, so I bought the computer that became Artemis. I've since fixed Genji and keep it around, mostly as a secondary machine for simple network tasks.
